Day 07: Moshi – Machame Gate – Machame hut
Already well acclimatized we take the bus to Machame Gate. From here we start our ascent of the highest mountain of Africa. We walk comfortably higher through the tropical rainforest. In the afternoon we arrive at our first camp at an altitude of 3.000m.

Day 08: Machame Hat – Shira Plateau 3.800m
After breakfast we go higher and reach a ridge. From here we already have a wonderful view over to Mt. Meru, which we climbed four days ago. In the afternoon we reach our camp at the Shira Plateau. From here we have a fantastic view over the whole plateau and on the enormous south – west abysses of the Kilimanjaro.

Day 09: Shira Plateau – Lava Tower 4.600m – Barranco Camp
In the morning we hike on a glacier moraine towards Western Breach. After approx. 3 h walking time climbers can climb the Lava Tower at 4.600 m. Here we take some rest again to improve our acclimatization and hike through beautiful forests down to the Barranco Camp at 3.950m. The mighty ice falls of the Kilimanjaro and the many beautiful Senetia forests in this valley basin still know how to motivate everyone.

Day 10: Barranco Camp – Wide valley – Barrafu Camp
After a good breakfast, we first take a trail into the wide valley, where we’ll have again the possibility to improve our acclimatization process. On the east side of the Kilimanjaro the trail goes up and down several times. Passing the last water, we cross a moraine cone and reach the high camp. We move into our camp and start our preparations for the summit day.

Day 11: Barrafu Camp – Uhuru Peak 5.896 m – Mweka Camp 3.000m
Already at midnight we start our summit ascent to the highest mountain of Africa. First we walk comfortably into a wide valley. It’s getting steeper here and our strength is being challenged. Suddenly it gets flat again and we walk about 45 minutes to the summit. Overjoyed to have made it we enjoy our big moment at Uhuru Peak, the highest point of Africa. At sunrise there is an impressive view of the ice monument, the Reusch crater and much more in the surroundings of the summit. Afterwards descent to Mweka Camp.

Day 12: Mweka Camp – Moshi
After breakfast we descend from Mweka Camp through the tropical rainforest to the gate and then are brought back to our comfortable hotel.
