"I prefer to leave tracks where no other tracks lead. I can look back and assess them, which I would not be able to do otherwise, because they would be lost among many others. I want to have control over my life. That's why I go my own way, a way not everyone follows." Heini Holzer (Extreme skiing legend from south Tirol, died 1977 during first ski descent of Piz Roseg north-east face)

Those who have experienced the pounding of a Mi-8 helicopter up close, not with an AK-47 in hand, but rather with a pair of awesome powder skis, will gladly recall their quickened heart beat and the butterflies in their stomach. That’s the sensation you get when being picked up directly from the hotel and flown by this impressive airship to the next run in one of the most fascinating parts of the world. That’s when the group presents an odd sight. Everyone has a grin on their face. This is a result of the endorphins constantly being released by the body. In your thoughts, you are already on the next run. From the rim of an active volcano down to the Pacific coast and through valleys and fjords where the legendary Kamchatka bears roam. After a day's work, it’s off to the sauna or the natural hot springs. Afterall, one must relax and unwind from this state of natural intoxication. And all this in one of the remotest areas of the world. This is a pure skiing adventure. Heli-skiing Kamchatka style.

Kamchatka epic heli-ski movie!

The following schedule is planned:

Day 1: Arrival to Petropavlovsk-Kamchatski airport (IATA Code: PKC) in Kamchatka, pick up from the airport and 30 minute transfer to the lodge, which will be our base for the next few days. If weather permits we can fly / ski on the same day.

Depending on flight destination helicopter picks us up directly from our lodge or short transfer to heliport. After skiing it’s time to chill out and relax at the hot springs or the sauna.

Day 8: Transfer back to Airport.

Weather and conditions on the mountain can lead to program or route changes. Participation in Heliskiing / Ski Touring lies in your own individual responsibility. Furtenbach Adventures assumes no liability for accidents, damages or loss of materials.
If you are not sure whether taking part in an certain trip is the right thing for you, feel free to contact Lukas Furtenbach at Tel +43 512 204134 or per emaillukas@furtenbachadventures.com for an answer to this question during a personal interview!

This package in general is not suitable for persons with reduced mobility.

Difficulty / Technique
Heliskiing / Ski Touring always lies in the participant‘s personal responsibility, while led by the mountain guide. Participants must be able to move safely and independently in different snow conditions and steep terrain. For Ski Touring members should be able to perform kick-turns. The guide is there to provide guidance for the whole group, the possibilities for him to respond to individual needs is limited. It is imperative that participants adhere to the instructions and decisions made by the mountain guide. Regardless, each participant must know their own physical limits, and be able to make a timely decision to turn back.

Physical fitness
A key success factor in ski touring trips is being in good shape. Train in the months before the trip! Several hour climbs with a backpack and around 1000 meters per day should not be a problem for you. You have to carry your own personal equipment on the mountain. We will gladly provide individual advice on how to best prepare yourself mentally and physically for an expedition!

Unless specified otherwise in the detailled program you need to bring your own personal ski / skki touring and safety equipment. We will be happy to advise you personally during the selection and purchase of required equipment. With years of expedition experience, we know what has proved its worth and what not.

We recommend that each participant undergoes a medical examination prior to the expedition. Good health is a prerequisite for participation. Particularly important is a visit to the dentist because previously unnoticed dental problems can become quite acute due to the sudden change in pressure conditions in higher altitudes.

Passport and Visa Regulations
Swiss or EU citizens: When entering the country, you need a passport with a validity of at least 6 more months and a visa that has to be obtained by members in their homecountry at the Russian Embassy at least 4 weeks before departure. We will provide russian invitation letter.
