Iceland – famous for its beautiful landscape, geysers, trolls, fairies and amongst Heliski fans also for its numerous incredible slopes… now, the descendants of the bravest and strongest Vikings invite you to conquer this unique island.

Onley a few kilometers away from the polar circle, we give you the opportunity to discover one of the most spectacular Heliski areas of Iceland: Tröllaskagi. This peninsula, which is named after the trolls that are said to dwell here, is yet largely undiscovered by commercial Heliskiing. The terrain is excellent for Heliskiing and offers something for all preferences. Connoisseurs will enjoy “summit to sea” runs with up to 1.500 m altitude difference – from the breathtaking view of the summit down to the icy coast of the arctic ocean. And not just once but again and again and again. Addiction potential is guaranteed. But better be prepared: the conditions in the cold north vary drastically. From fresh powder to stable compressed firn everything is possible – expect the unexpected!

The Heliskiing area of Tröllaskagi is particularly attractive from the end of March until mid of June. A perfect time to safe our skis from the inevitable summer months in the cellar and experience a true highlight at the end of the skiing season. In addition, this period still provides the opportunity to experience the impressive northern lights (if we are lucky and if we do not upset the islands spirits).

The best place to watch them is probably the old Viking port: a new and (very untypical) comfortable hotel  equipped with thermal whirlpools and saunas to enjoy the peace and quietness in the evenings.

So, come and enjoy Heliskiing with the probably most friendly Vikings you will ever meet. An experience with fun, action and excitement far up in the north!

The terms and conditions of the tour operator Viking Heliskiing ehf. do apply, which can be read HERE.

Difficulty / Technique
Heliskiing / Ski Touring always lies in the participant‘s personal responsibility, while led by the mountain guide. Participants must be able to move safely and independently in different snow conditions and steep terrain. For Ski Touring members should be able to perform kick-turns. The guide is there to provide guidance for the whole group, the possibilities for him to respond to individual needs is limited. It is imperative that participants adhere to the instructions and decisions made by the mountain guide. Regardless, each participant must know their own physical limits, and be able to make a timely decision to turn back.

Physical fitness
A key success factor in ski touring trips is being in good shape. We will ski down up to 3000 vertical meters every day in varying snow condition.

Equipment
Please note which equipment is included under the point “What the price includes”. We will supply you with adequate safety equipment (avalanche airbag, shovel, probe and avalanche transceiver)

Health
We recommend that each participant undergoes a medical examination prior to the expedition. Good health is a prerequisite for participation. Particularly important is a visit to the dentist because previously unnoticed dental problems can become quite acute due to the sudden change in pressure conditions in higher altitudes.
