For the first time, Furtenbach Adventures will offer a post-monsoon Everest Expedition
For decades, autumn was an established season for climbing Mount Everest.
Then it disappeared.
As commercial expeditions evolved, almost every operator shifted their focus to spring. Colder temperatures, frequent snowfall and lower summit success rates made the post-monsoon season increasingly unattractive. Over time, autumn became little more than a forgotten chapter in Everest’s history.
Today, the mountain is changing once again.
Long-term observations indicate that autumn temperatures in the Himalaya have become noticeably milder than they once were. At the same time, the summer monsoon often leaves behind stable snow conditions on key sections of the route, including the Lhotse Face and the Southeast Ridge. These developments have quietly transformed the post-monsoon season into one of the most promising periods to climb Mount Everest.
But perhaps the greatest advantage is one that cannot be measured by weather data.
Everest Without the Crowds
Spring remains the traditional Everest season – and with good reason. However, it has also become increasingly busy. Hundreds of climbers share the same route, often leading to queues at fixed ropes, delays at technical sections and crowded summit days in case you’ve chosen the wrong operator and schedule for the summit rotation.
Autumn offers a completely different experience.
Fewer expeditions. Fewer climbers. More flexibility & safety. More solitude.

The Best of Both Worlds
Our annual Spring Everest expeditions will continue exactly as they always have. Spring remains the classic Everest season and an important part of our expedition calendar.
For 2027, however, we are introducing something entirely new.
This is not an experimental expedition or a simplified version of our established programs. Our Autumn Everest Expedition will be available in our Classic, Flash and Signature formats, supported by the same world-class logistics, experienced expedition leaders, highly qualified Sherpa teams and uncompromising safety standards that have established Furtenbach Adventures as the safest operator on Mount Everest and the team with the industry’s highest summit success rates.
